The Art of Essence: How Organic Essential Oils Are Extracted

Extracting the Soul of a Plant

Capturing the essence of a plant requires patience, precision, and the right extraction method. To preserve the plant’s biological integrity and therapeutic properties, each technique must respect the delicate, heat-sensitive nature of aromatic molecules.

1. Steam Distillation: The Traditional Method

This is the most widely used extraction technique for leaves, woods, herbs, and resins such as lavender, rosemary, and eucalyptus.

How it works

Steam passes through the plant material inside a distillation still, gently releasing the aromatic compounds and carrying them upward with the vapor.

The result

Once cooled and condensed, the liquid separates into two valuable products: pure essential oil and hydrosol (floral water), both widely used in natural skincare and wellness products.

2. Cold Pressing: Ideal for Citrus Fruits

For citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, and bergamot, heat can alter the freshness and complexity of the aroma. That is why cold pressing is preferred.

How it works

The fruit peels are mechanically pressed to release their natural oils without the use of heat or chemical solvents.

The organic advantage

This method helps preserve the peel’s vitamins, antioxidants, and vibrant aromatic profile, resulting in a fresher and more authentic essence.

3. Enfleurage: For the Most Delicate Flowers

Enfleurage is a rare and traditional technique used for fragile flowers such as jasmine and tuberose, whose delicate aroma cannot withstand steam distillation.

How it works

Fresh flower petals are placed onto layers of purified natural fat, which slowly absorbs their fragrance over time.

The final touch

The fragrant fat, known as pomade, is then washed with alcohol to separate the aromatic compounds, creating what is known as an absolute — one of the most concentrated and luxurious forms of botanical fragrance.

Why Choose Naturally Derived Oils?

Organic certification helps ensure that the extraction process remains as pure and gentle as possible.

No Petrochemical Solvents

Only water, steam, or mechanical pressure are used during extraction.

Carefully Harvested Plants

Plants are harvested at their optimal stage, when their concentration of beneficial active compounds is at its peak.
